Of course, I've found that the Rigger/Decker in Dragonfall requires a super-tight Karma and Nuyen budget to make it shine (SO worth it when all the efficiencies pay off, though, which happens in the early midgame), and I can't even imagine how tight this budget needs to be in Hong Kong. Riggers, being INT builds, are able to cross-class into Decking cheaper than other builds because they're already buying INT for Drones. Not only that, but with all the XP you're putting into drones, using two drones gives you double the bang from the Karma you've spent in the Drone tree anyway. This means that until later in the game, there's little point in putting any experience into stuff outside of the Drone tree (except whatever you need for skill checks, and enough Body to not die in one hit) because you'll never get to spend AP on it. Having your drone activated consumes 1 AP/round, and you're probably going to want two drones.
I'll ignore those for the time being and just talk about Riggers as a class in general.ĭrone builds do not play nice with other builds.
Keep in mind, my experience with the SRR series is mostly in Dragonfall, where I've got my whole initial experience loadout revolving around skill checks. So there are two ways to play a Rigger: pure Rigger and Rigger/Decker.
